Gloucestershire Cricket Board
The Gloucestershire Cricket Board (GCB) is responsible for all Recreational Cricket across the County, creating links and building pathways between Schools, Clubs and the Community. The Board consists of both full time paid professional staff as we well as an ever increasing number of valuable volunteers.
The Board, through its affiliation to the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB), has four core roles and responsibilities: strategic planning, programme management, performance management, and effective governance.
The Board receives a large proportion of its funding from the ECB and as a result of this there are agreed common goals around participation, club accreditation, club members, coaching roles, volunteer roles, player development and many others. Annually the County Board has to provide a One Year Improvement Action Plan and it is this document that drives the Boards work programme. If targets are reached the Board receives its annual funding from the ECB for the following year.
County Board work is about ensuring that Cricket is available for all, regardless of age, gender or ethnicity and it is the primary role of the Board to ensure that this is the case. The Board works with many organisations to provide these opportunities and is continuing to develop cricket across all areas by partnership work with the 2 Gloucestershire County Sports Partnerships, Active Gloucestershire and WESPORT, the various Local Authorities, the School Sports Partnerships as well as both National and Local Businesses’.
The GCB are located at The County Ground, Nevil Road, which allows the 2 organisations who are charged with delivering and developing cricket in the community a great opportunity to work together and to really make a difference.
