In a time of the year where people would think cricket isn’t happening, that couldn’t be further from the truth in Gloucestershire.

When the children returned to school in September, there was still a great appetite from schools to provide cricket provision for their pupils.

It is crucially important that cricket remains active in school’s throughput the whole academic year, we cannot survive as a game by being known solely as a ‘summer sport’. This engagement has an extremely positive knock-on effect later in the academic year when we organise competitions. The teacher engagement also provides schools the confidence to offer more cricket in the spring and summer terms.

What teachers are telling us?

Hi Chris,

Just wanted to send a quick email to say how brilliant Shazil was today. All the adults who worked with him today have said how much they enjoyed his session, and the children were very excited to be with him and cannot wait to see home next week.

Francesca Reynolds, Tredworth Infants

Hello Chris,

Can I just say thank you so much for the coaching we have just had at Temple Guiting. The coaches were brilliant, and all the children thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Rachel, Temple Guiting Primary

 Hi Chris,

Just a quick email to say all the children have had a fantastic time during the cricket programme. Kieran has been brilliant and has really engaged the children throughout with some top-quality coaching. Thank you.

Archie, Raysfield Primary

Hi Chris,

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Ralph for his time on Wednesday’s. All the children really enjoyed their time with him. We now hope we have some budding cricketers in the making!

Sarah, Gillingstool Primary

Hi Chris

Can I just thank you and Ollie so much! Ollie was a fantastic coach and every single member of staff commented on his skill at teaching to all the different aged children. They also commented on how professional and organised he was.

Please thank Ollie (I didn’t get to see him before the end of the day) and the children absolutely loved it.

Naomi, John Moore Primary

Building and maintaining relationships in schools is vitally important for us in Gloucestershire. Like all things, providing positive experiences for children and teachers will maximize the chance that people will choose cricket.

We are seeing All Stars and Dynamos numbers at clubs increasing year on year, if we want to ensure this curve remains on the up slope, this work must continue. The impact our coaches can have on young people cannot be taken for granted.
