Clubs that have signed up with the GCB’s official brewer and wholesale partner St Austell Brewery are encouraging others to do the same.

Frocester, Stapleton and Bishopston are among the clubs to have benefited since moving across in 2015.

They have all taken advantage of the company’s competitive pricing, expert advice and excellent customer service.

Stapleton CC said:

“We started using St Austell Brewery just over two years ago as we wanted a brand that could provide a one stop shop for our cricket season and our annual beer festival.”

“It is the best move we have made and we have nothing but praise for the customer service and the support on offer.”

Although based in Cornwall, SAB provides Glos clubs with a localised, personal service through its depot in Avonmouth and regional sales manager Lee Jasper who lives in Thornbury.

The makers of Tribute, Korev and Proper Job were recently named Regional Brewer of the Year at the 2016 Publicans’ Choice Awards for the fourth consecutive year.

Scott McClusky from Bishopston CC said: “Since Switching to St Austell Brewery in 2015 the service has been second to none.

“Whether you are dealing with your local sales rep right through the telesales team you always know you are going to get the same high standard service throughout.”

“I think it is important to be able to run a successful cricket club that you have a top brewery behind you and the whole club has benefited.”

As well as the day-to-day job of supplying the club’s bars, SAB is also committed to supporting club events. It has provided complimentary raffle prizes and beer tents for Bishopston and now supplies beer, cider and wine to the famous annual Frocester Beer Festival.

Frocester’s Eric Bird says working with SAB has not only helped improve the day-to-day running of their bar, it has also saved the club money.

He said:

“We can only say how impressed and pleased we are with the whole company from sales ordering to delivery men and the knowledgeable and friendly contacts we have made within all divisions of the company.”

“We now find that we can order virtually all our requirements from one supplier, saving time and most importantly money.”

In addition to offering drinks at competitive prices, SAB offers clubs a percentage of their annual spend with them as a grant upfront. SAB can also negotiate discounts on BT Sports packages through their partnership with Carlsberg UK. The company can support clubs with everything from revamping existing bar areas to building brand new bespoke counters and display spaces.

GCB chief executive Steve Silk said that a common misconception is that clubs that sign up with St Austell are limited to only stocking their ales.

He said: “The testimonies above clearly show the quality service that St Austell offer. Not only are they making life easier for clubs but they are saving them significant amounts of money too.

“Some clubs may be put off by thinking they can only have SAB ales but this isn’t the case. SAB is able to source and supply a wide range of beers, ciders and wines at competitive prices to ensure that each club can offer a completely bespoke range of drinks.”

“Even if you are happy with your current supplier I would urge all clubs to get in touch with SAB and see what they can do for you.”
