Golden Hill’s winning start in Marsh Commercial U16 T20

GOLDEN Hill produced a commanding team effort to overcome Thornbury by 76 runs in their opening match in the Marsh Commercial U16 T20.

Opener Marcus Allan (50 retired), Will Windows (43) and captain Dan Broome (32 not) powered Golden Hill to an impressive 173-2.

And in reply Thornbury were then restricted to 97-8, Pete Banks top scoring on 26 as Rashard Robinson captured 3-12 and Len Noel 2-29, both from four.

Thornbury had earlier begun their campaign in the South division with a five-wicket defeat of Bedminster, opener Saiyajat Kenche compiling 44 and Zain Syed 38 not before Ahmed Syed captured 3-2 from two overs.

In the North division, champions Dumbleton got underway with a 33-run triumph away to Cheltenham.

James O’Brien (47) and Ethan Corbett (46) helped their side recover from 24-3 to total 161-7, Amanveer Singh Jagdey taking 3-29.

And Cheltenham were then restricted to 128-8, Ed Thompson and Dan Hammond bagging two wickets apiece.

In the South Development league, Bradley Stoke powered to a ten-wicket home success against Frenchay who were rumbled for 75.

Alfie Norton finished with fine figures of 4-11 from four ahead of Ben Rivers (37) and Harry Eccott (27) completing the job.

In the Gloucestershire Vitality U19 T20 in partnership with Stuart Turner, Bedminster eased in by eight wickets away to Stoke Bishop who were pegged back to 101-9 by Joe Millard (3-20) who then retired on 50 from 32 balls (seven fours and a six).
