Gloucestershire Cricket Schools Days
It is our intention to bring 150 schools to Gloucestershire matches in 2020.
To celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club and following on from the huge success of our ‘Schools Days’ over the past five years, Gloucestershire Cricket would like to invite your school or a class from it, to enjoy a FREE educational day out at the cricket.
What happens on a school day?
Every pupil will receive:
- A free ticket to watch a First Class County cricket match
- Cricket activities including coaching
- A workbook full of fun activities to help make the most of the day
- ‘Daily Mile’ Physical activity alongside Community Sport Partnerships
- A tour of the ‘Museum’ (this is for the Bristol dates)
- Lunch time activity on the outfield
What are the benefits?
Schools Days are a great way of introducing children to first class cricket in an informal and fun way while sharing the experience with their friends.
This is not just about watching the game but instead taking your classroom to the cricket. The children will be encouraged to complete a workbook through the day which consolidates their learning while completing activities aligned with the National Curriculum levels.
Cricket resources for teachers, created by Chance to Shine, are free to access.
We will also be promoting two programmes at these events (All Stars Cricket and Dynamos Cricket). These are national programmes run locally at cricket clubs.

Due to massive demand, these events will be first come, first served with a maximum of 15 schools per day. Each school can bring one class, there is a maximum of 30 children per school. It is acceptable to bring a whole class, which is just over this amount (31, 32). Once the 15 spaces for each day are booked online, they will show as full and you will not be able to book.
Schools are only permitted to book on to one date. We are trying to reach as many schools as possible so sharing the opportunity around is the fairest way.
We look forward to welcoming you and your school to what promises to be a great day out at the cricket this summer.
