ISHAN Mulchandani turned in a terrific performance with bat and ten ball as Stroud turned the tables on high-flying Corsham by 25 runs in WEPL Premier Two Glos/Wilts.
The all-rounder top scored with 73 off only 61 balls (seven fours, three sixes) in the visitors’ 254-9 after losing the toss, and followed up with a fine spell of 4-48 from nine – including accounting for both openers – to help Stroud move up from ninth to sixth.
Corsham, despite this defeat, are now second, replacing Thornbury who came unstuck by 122 runs in a rain-hit home clash against leaders Goatacre.
Dumbleton slipped up by three wickets at Biddestone while Hatherley & Reddings were 25-2 at home to Frocester, chasing 186, when the weather had the final word.
In Premier One, opener Max Tryfonos’ maiden century paved the way for Bedminster to trump Chippenham by 155 runs while Cheltenham were defeated by 74 runs at home to Taunton Deane and Lansdown overcame Downend by six wickets.
Bristol marched on at the top of Premier Two Bristol/Somerset with a 212-run trouncing of bottom side Bath 2nds.
Opener Nic Halstead-Cleak’s unbeaten 111 and 94 not out from Archie Fellowes saw Bristol to an imposing 310-3 before Bath were skittled for 98.
Next up for Bristol is a home date against Bishopston who went down by seven wickets at home to second-placed Taunton St Andrews while Winterbourne succumbed to a seven-wicket defeat at Midsomer Norton.
Brislington are up to third in Bristol & North Somerset after an eight-wicket home derby victory against Keynsham, Knowle emerged three-wicket victors away to Bristol 2nds while wet conditions had the last word at Stapleton who had battled to 146-9 off their 45 against Bristol West Indian Phoenix when play had to be abandoned.
