Week 18 Gloucestershire County League round-up

CHAMPIONS Charlton Kings put the seal on a summer to remember in Division One of the Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League with a seven-run home success over nearest rivals Tewkesbury.

Opener Ali Parker’s dogged 54 was the highlight of Kings’ challenge of 185-9 before the visitors were pegged back by a team effort with the ball as seven players ensured Tewkesbury finished just short.

Both sides were already guaranteed promotion to WEPL’s Gloucestershire Division before the start of play.

Coming up from Division Two are Chipping Campden, who suffered a 23-run reverse at Gloucester AIW, and Hawkesbury Upton who were five-wicket victors at Shurdington.

Shockat Veshmia’s unbeaten 52 and a return of 4-30 from eight by Libas Uriakhiel were the highlights of AIW’s win which ensured their safety.

Dan Kibble produced one of the bowling displays of the day, finishing with 6-48 from eight for Cinderford St John who slipped up by 76 runs at Hatherley & Reddings 2nds.

Rockhampton 2nds, the runaway winners of Division Three, suffered a 75-run home reverse against Ullenwood Bharat for whom Jitesh Thammisetti struck with 5-11 from seven.

James Field hit a remarkable 134 in Division Four for Dymock who suffered a 66-run home defeat against Corse & Staunton 2nds.

The next highest scorer was 23 after captain Julian Jones had earlier thumped an unbeaten 112 for Corse.

Champions Tewkesbury 2nds wrapped up their campaign with a 57-run defeat of bottom side Birdlip & Brimpsfield while runners-up Dumbleton 2nds were eight-wicket victors at Cheltenham Civil Service 2nds.

Division Five champions Churchdown cruised past Stone by 151 runs while Alex Kill’s 127 helped runners-up Cricklade ease past Gloucester 2nds by 154 runs.

Kingsholm 2nds, the Division Six champions, edged Hatherley & Reddings 3rds by two wickets with runners-up Whitminster dispatching Chedworth by seven wickets, Lee Medcroft and Lee Mansell both taking four wickets.

Champions Eastcombe ended their Division Seven campaign with an unbeaten record following a four-wicket home success over Westbury-on-Severn 2nds.

And opener Josh Middlecote’s unbeaten 74 saw runners-up Parkend to an eight-wicket victory at Down Hatherley.
