CONNOR Millin’s explosive unbeaten 91 paved the way for Quedgeley & Hardwicke to overcome Chedworth by 44 runs in one of only three Greene King IPA Gloucestershire County League matches to beat the weather.
Persistent heavy rain over several days and sodden grounds meant the great majority of matches had to be called off despite the late arrival of sunny weather.
But a delayed start and 35-over encounter was possible at Chedworth who won the toss but saw their visitors reach 183-6 thanks mainly to Millin who crashed four fours and eight sixes with opener Jake Huggins also thumping 54.
Elliot Lockey finished with terrific figures of 0-5 from seven overs for Chedworth who then came up well short despite James Larner’s 54, Adam Hopkins and Pete Old claiming three wickets apiece.
In Division Three, home side Newent reached 186-6 off their 40 before bowling out Frampton-on-Severn for 156.
Richard Henry’s unbeaten 66 for Newent included three fours and five sixes as Matt Halsey captured 3-21 from eight, while Billy Curtis was unbeaten on 49 in Frampton’s reply, Tom Devries finishing with 3-22.
Sheepscombe’s efforts to get their Division Four game on against Cheltenham Civil Service 2nds were rewarded with a six-wicket success.
The visitors totalled 152-7 from their 30 overs, Callum Wilson hitting 40 as Joe Stevens struck with a return of 3-32.
In reply, Sheepscombe chipped away at their target through Stevens (45) and Chris Williams (38) to seal the spoils with 14 balls to spare.
